The Journey Begins

Why is it that we as humans decide to settle for comfort? We are often told that we should chase our dreams and that we can do anything we set our minds to, but most of us don't. Are people afraid to chase their dreams because they're afraid to go outside of their comfort zones and fail?

I ask myself regularly if I am going to end up settling because I'm afraid to fail. I ultimately end up deciding that for me to truly get to the level of success that I crave, I will have to accept failure and learn from it like all the successful people tell me to do. For example, Dwayne 'The Rock" Johnson admits that failing has becoming critical to his growth. Even the great Michael Jordan says that failing repeatedly is the reason why he has succeeded.

Could you imagine if Martin Luther King Jr. just decided to give up during the civil rights movement after continuously failing? The reason why he had 200,000-300,000 followers alongside him during the March on Washington was because he was not afraid to fail for what he believed in.

I strongly believe that everyone has a passion, a why, a dream, or a following. However, just because we all have a why, doesn't mean we will follow it. I spend many nights thinking in my head "what is it that I want to do for the rest of my life"? and "If I could do anything in this world and not have to worry about money, what would I do? The answer is simply fitness.

Last year, roughly 38% of adults in the United States were considered obese. I often ignore all claims that fitness is a saturated industry with statistics like that. Clearly the deed is not being done. My goal is not to become the top athlete in the world, or to claim that my method of training is the best that you'll ever encounter. My goal instead is to get those 38% of adults in America to make a change toward a healthier and healthier life. Proper nutrition and exercise will in fact increase a person's level of happiness. Along with that, it is a great way to relieve stress and create self-discipline. I have experienced this first hand and have become addicted to the quality of life that it provides me. I have also found happiness in showing others the perennial joy that fitness has to offer and helping them get past the urges of passing pleasures.

Welcome to the start of this journey to make a difference in this world just as everyone else wishes to do but doesn't. If I am able to contribute to making the world a healthier and happier place in even the slightest, then I'm following my dream.
